The African Art Hub (TAAH) is proud to partner with Ubuntu Art Village, a residency space situated by the picturesque Tiki beach in Zanzibar. Founded by celebrated artist Reggie Khumalo, Ubuntu Art Village offers a unique opportunity for artistic exchange and growth.
Our Commitment
As part of our dedication to fostering artistic exchange and supporting impactful artist-led initiatives, TAAH will annually send artists to Ubuntu Art Village for a month-long residency. This immersive experience allows artists to:
- Engage with local artistic practices
- Explore innovative creative expressions
- Immerse themselves in a new cultural landscape
First Edition
For the inaugural edition, acclaimed artist Ibrahim Bamidele has been selected to join Reggie Khumalo in Zanzibar. Both artists share a fascination with textiles, creating a unique opportunity for cross-pollination of ideas and perspectives.
Collaborative Outcomes
This residency offers the exciting possibility of a collaborative piece, blending the distinct approaches and artistic sensibilities of both artists. The resulting works will be showcased at the 1-54 New York Art Fair, taking place from May 8th to 11th, 2025.
Expanding Opportunities
TAAH remains committed to supporting African artists and expanding opportunities for creative engagement beyond borders. This partnership with Ubuntu Art Village marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to provide artists with immersive, career-defining experiences.
